Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Regional Meeting - Region 9

APA QI Meeting

APA's  Conference for Pediatric Quality Improvement Methods, Research and Evaluation is hosted annually prior to the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting. Clinicians, investigators and individuals interested in implementation science and quality improvement (QI) research develop expertise and state-of-the-art approaches to developing, evaluating, and publishing the effectiveness of interventions. 

This conference focuses on providing training to child health researchers on the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions aimed at improving the health care services provided to children. Speakers and participants will focus on state-of-the-art methods to facilitate the conduct of rigorous QI research and implementation science.

QI 2022: Call for Abstracts

The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) is soliciting abstracts for the 11th Annual Conference on Advancing Quality Improvement Science for Children's Health Care. This conference focuses on providing training to child health researchers on the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions aimed at improving the health care services provided to children. Speakers and participants will focus on state-of-the-art methods to facilitate the conduct of rigorous QI research and implementation science.  Selected abstracts will be presented in a poster session The author(s) of the top scoring abstracts will be invited to present during the platform presentation session.

The PAS Meeting brings together thousands of pediatricians and other health care providers united by a common mission: improve the health and well-being of children worldwide. This international gathering includes researchers, academics, as well as clinical care providers and community practitioners. Presentations cover issues of interest to generalists as well as topics critical to a wide array of specialty and sub-specialty areas.

ACGME Conference

When does the Call for Abstracts open?
The Call for Abstracts opens in late August and closes early October each year. Dates will be announced in the ACGME’s weekly e-Communication and on www.acgme.org, as well as on the ACGME’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.

Who should submit an abstract?
The ACGME Annual Educational Conference is designed to educate designated institutional officials (DIOs), program directors, coordinators, residents/fellows, faculty members, hospital administrators, and others in GME. The forementioned roles in GME are encouraged to submit an abstract.

What topics are you looking for?
Abstracts should focus on research or innovations in the areas of: accreditation; assessment; well-being; diversity, equity, and inclusion; teaching methodologies; resident/fellow training and development; crisis management; current issues in medicine and medical education; and other GME-related research and innovations in the clinical learning environment. We particularly encourage outcomes-based research and evaluation.

USC Innovations in Medical Education    

INNOVATIONS IN MEDICAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE

The annual Innovations in Medical Education Conference takes place over one and a half days at the end of February each year. It is sponsored by the Department of Medical Education and the Office of Continuing Medical Education, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. The conference provides an excellent opportunity to join a growing community of educators, leaders, scholars, and learners working together to promote change in health professions education, moving towards a higher level of excellence and wellbeing. The conference provides a friendly atmosphere that promotes maximum interaction among participants seeking to discuss, assess, and report on educational innovations within health professions education. This exciting and stimulating program includes a plenary session, workshops, oral presentations, and poster sessions. Abstracts for workshops and curricular exemplars are due in August each year. Abstracts for innovations with data and for “cool ideas” are due in October each year.

Conference Highlights for Participants

  • Discuss, assess, and report on educational innovations and research in health professions education.

  • Present a Cool Idea or Innovation (for example, share an inventive change you have made on the fly in response to the crises of 2020).
